Meet The Team
Founder and Principal Financial Planner
Sophia Bera Daigle, CFP® is not your father’s financial planner. After working in traditional financial planning firms since 2007 she quit her job at a NY start-up to launch her own firm, Gen Y Planning. Now, she runs a six-figure online business from her laptop. Her recent accolades include the “Top 40 Under 40” by Investment News, the Investopedia “Top 100 Financial Advisors”, and “Investopedia Top 10 Financial Advisors.”
Sophia has been quoted in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Fortune, Business Insider, Yahoo Finance, CNN Money, CNBC, Huffington Post, Mashable, LifeHacker, and more. She is one of 15 members of the CNBC Financial Advisor Council. If you Google “financial planner for Gen Y” she’s at the top of the list. Sophia lives in Austin, Texas with her husband, Bryan, and their son, Theo, who was born in fall 2020. After spending several months living abroad in 2019, they are excited to share their love of travel with Theo.
Sophia helps people use their money to match their values. Her clients range from creatives to small business owners to Silicon Valley employees. Whether you plan to retire early, take a sabbatical, or build a career you love, we’re excited to work with you.
Nia Gillett, Paraplanner
Nia Gillett received her Bachelors of Science in Psychology from the University of Florida. Upon graduating, she traveled abroad and lived in Australia and Europe for a few years. There, she immersed herself in helping her friends understand their student loan repayment options, figure out travel rewards and credit card points, navigate new job offers, evaluate their company benefits, and buy their first homes.
These valuable experiences made her realize just how little personal finance education exists in schools, how much she enjoyed educating people about their money, and how important financial literacy is (not just right before retirement), but throughout every stage of life.
Over the past few years, Nia has been the Operations Manager at a tax office, where she brought meaningful tax knowledge to the clients at Gen Y Planning! Her passion for helping people with their money led her to pursue and pass her CFP® exam in November 2021 and she has worked for your typical father’s financial planner firm in the past. Unsatisfied with the status quo, she’s thrilled to join Gen Y Planning and firmly stands behind the belief that a new generation needs a fresh approach to financial management—focused on the full picture, not only managing assets, but also people’s goals and values, and the many ways they can leverage their money to meet them.
When she’s not doing yoga, you can catch her kayaking through the mangroves of her home city, St. Petersburg, Florida, adventuring in Colorado, visiting her family in the UK, and creating ceramics at her family’s pottery studio in New York.
