What are my job duties as a Tutor for BookNook?
As a tutor for BookNook, you will be required to teach reading and math from your home office to groups of 1-4 students. Tutoring sessions are 30 minutes each. Each week, you will meet with the same students to evaluate their performance and build relationships. The impact you will directly make on each student will literally change their life for the better forever. You both will never forget this experience.
What are the requirements to be a BookNook tutor?
BookNook is looking for people who are passionate about teaching students from all diverse backgrounds including cultural, racial, economic, educational, and geographic. You will need to be tech-savvy in order to deal with glitches and other technical issues that come with using the internet and applications.
They are looking for Tutors who are enthusiastic and engaging to help empower and encourage students. All tutors must have 1+ years of teaching or tutoring experience. You will also need to live in the US with a current social security number or an individual tax identification number.
What is the application process like?
It consists of 2 parts. The first part involves just a few questions that will take no longer than 10 minutes of your time. The second part is a one-way video interview where you will record your answers to questions and conduct a 3-minute teaching sample on camera. The video interview can be completed from your phone or computer camera.
You will hear back from BookNook within 5 business days after you have completed your application.
What equipment will I need in my home office to be a Tutor?
BookNook’s platform works on any computer or tablet with an internet connection that uses Google Chrome or Safari. You are free to teach on either of these devices at your discretion.
When does BookNook pay their Tutors?
You will get paid two times a month through direct deposit as a Tutor for BookNook. BookNook pays $18 per hour plus bonuses.
Please keep in mind that Tutors are hired as independent contractors. This means that taxes will not be withheld for you by the company. You are responsible for filing your own taxes with the IRS at the end of the year.
