Making frozen waffles in the air fryer is super easy and the clean-up is a breeze! If you’ve been waiting to ditch your toaster or toaster oven, here is your sign!
Can You Put Waffles in the Air Fryer?
Yes, you sure can! Just like making toast or bagels in the air fryer, frozen waffles toast very well in this countertop marvel.
An air fryer is not a replacement for a waffle iron so you can only use the air fryer to heat up waffles that have already been made.
To make your own stash of freezer waffles, I recommend this larger waffle maker (it has removable and dishwasher-safe plates!) or this mini waffle iron for single-serve waffles.
My whole wheat waffle recipe is also great with all-purpose flour, and you’ll definitely want to check out our strawberry waffles.
How Long Do You Cook Frozen Waffles in an Air Fryer?
Place the waffles in the basket of the air fryer. Each air fryer will be slightly different but will probably hold 2-4.
For a medium–toasted texture cook for 3 minutes at 320 degrees F. If you like your waffles crispy and toasty, cook for 4 minutes. If you want it just lightly toasted, 2 minutes is perfect. That’s it!
For an absolutely delicious variation, when the waffles have finished toasting, spread a bit of butter on them and then toast them at 310 degrees F for an additional minute. It’s SO good!
Awesome Waffle Toppings
Maple syrup is a classic, but if you love homemade fruity toppings for your waffles, check out our Blackberry Syrup, Strawberry Syrup, Peach Syrup, Sugared Strawberries, or Peach Compote.
And don’t forget that waffles are also fantastic with savory toppings. Try them with smoked salmon or lox, capers, top with Make-Ahead Scrambled Eggs, bacon you bake in the oven, or thinly sliced pickled shallots. Yum!
Pro Tips/Recipe Notes
- There is no need to preheat your air fryer.
- Do not defrost the waffles prior to toasting them.
- You can still make waffles in the air fryer even if your air fryer doesn’t have a “toast” setting. You can use the “bake” or “air fryer” settings.
- There is no need to flip the waffles during cooking.
