Jake Paul’s early fame and fortune came from the now-defunct Vine app in 2013. By the time Twitter Inc. discontinued the app, he had amassed an impressive 5.3 million followers and 2 billion views.

After finding fame on the two platforms, Paul was recruited by the Disney Channel for their series Bizaardvark. There, he played a character called Dirk Mann, who accepted dare requests that he would then perform.

In mid-2017, while filming Bizaardvark’s second season, the Disney Channel announced that Paul would be leaving the series. Paul’s exit came immediately after a news report from KTLA about public complaints from Paul’s neighbors. The protests were about the noise generated by Paul’s pranks, the parties he held, the fire hazards he caused, and the large crowds of his fans gathering in the area.

Paul later revealed that he was sacked due to the complaints. However, he turned the news into a positive. He told the world via Twitter that he would focus more on his personal brand, YouTube channel, business ventures, and more mature acting roles.

The song’s video accumulated over 70 million views in a single month and quickly became the third most disliked video on the website. It debuted (and peaked) at number 91 on the Billboard Hot 100. It was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

Also, in 2017, Paul released (and later deleted) a plethora of singles, including “Ohio Fried Chicken,” “Jerika,” “No Competition,” “That Ain’t on the News,” and “Litmas.”

At the end of 2017, a remix of “It’s Everyday Bro” was released, featuring Gucci Mane in place of Team 10.

In 2018, Paul released several singles, starting with “Malibu,” which was a collaboration with now-former Team 10 member Chad Tepper. Other singles released that year included “My Teachers,” featuring now-former Team 10 members Sunny Malouf and Anthony Trujillo, “Randy Savage,” featuring Team 10 and hip-hop duo Jitt & Quan and Team 10 members Anthony Trujillo, Sunny Malouf, Justin Roberts, Erika Costell, and Chad Tepper, and “Cartier Vision,” also featuring Jitt & Quan and Trujillo.

Also, in 2018, Paul released another single titled “Champion.” It was a diss track towards Deji Olatunji (ComedyShortsGamer), who was Paul’s first boxing opponent (we’ll get to that later).

Summer 2018 would see Paul and Team 10 performing songs on a United States tour. However, Team 10’s members all left one by one until the end of the year.

In 2019, Paul released the single “I’m Single.” It focused on his feelings about being single and his breakup with Erika Costell.

He started a new group after Team 10 had disbanded that same year. The new group included Adam Quinn, Lauren Dascalo, Brandon Amato, Payton Caci, and Mikahl Caci.

That same year, it invested in sports gambling firm Simplebet Inc. and raised $30 million in a financing round.

In 2018, Jake Paul decided to turn his hand to boxing, starting with an amateur bout against Deji Olatunji, the younger brother of YouTuber and rapper KSI. It was on the undercard of KSI’s fight against Paul’s brother Logan, and he defeated Deji via TKO in the fifth round. The occasion was promoted as “the biggest internet event in history.”

In 2020, Paul made his professional boxing debut against the YouTuber AnEsonGib (known as Gib). The fight was the co-feature to the WBO world middleweight title bout between professional boxers Demetrius Andrade and Luke Keeler. Paul won the contest in round one via TKO.

Later in 2020, Paul stepped into the ring for his second professional fight against professional basketball player Nate Robinson. The contest was part of the undercard for the Mike Tyson vs. Roy Jones Jr. exhibition match, and Paul won this one via knockout in round two.

In 2021, Paul had his third professional fight against the former Bellator MMA and ONE Welterweight Champion Ben Askren. It was the first boxing event Paul had headlined, selling more than 500,000 pay-per-view buys. Paul himself suggests it was closer to 1.45 million, but the legitimacy of that claim is doubted. Paul won again, this time via TKO in round one.

2021 was also the year in which Paul faced former UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley twice. Both fights were the headline contests of their respective events, and both were won by Paul. The first victory was a split decision, and the second was an emphatic sixth-round knockout.

Paul now has a professional boxing record of five wins and zero losses. Fights against professional boxers Tommy Fury and Hasim Rahman Jr. have collapsed for different reasons. Still, he looks set to fight former UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva – a man with four professional boxing matches to his name – in October 2022.
