The Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment – the professional body for Certified Financial Planners – has urged the UK’s growing Financial Planning community to throw its weight behind the 2022 Financial Planning Week campaign which takes place in October.
The week will take place from 3-9 October and is an annual campaign by the profession to raise awareness among consumers of the value of long-term Financial Planning.
In previous years planners have arranged pro bono drop ins, sent out press releases, stepped up social media posts and engaged with local media to spread the word.
The CISI says that with the cost of living soaring and rising interest rates, Financial Planning is more relevant than ever.
This year’s campaign theme is about “busting myths” about Financial Planning and encouraging family conversations on finances. The aim is to help consumers to take control of their finances.
In previous years, the campaign has encouraged Financial Planners to offer pro-bono guidance. The CISI says that while this remains a focus, the main aim this year is to encourage consumers to find a professional, qualified Financial Planner to help them “take control of their finances.”
Efforts will be focused on driving people to the “new and improved” ‘Find a Financial Planner’ Wayfinder website www.financialplanning.cisi.org. The resource listing allows consumers to search for their nearest Certified Financial Planner or Accredited Financial Planning Firm. It also offers tools and tips.
A social media awareness campaign will take place in the 10 days leading to Financial Planning Week – #10DaysOfFinancialPlanning. This will highlight key trends Financial Planners are seeing in 2022 and identify their advice.
The CISI is urging Financial Planners to share the benefits of Financial Planning by posting to #FPWUK, interacting with the #10DaysOfFinancialPlanning social media awareness hashtag and sending in tips, tools or guides to This email address is being protected from spambots. Presentations will also be shared with CISI Financial Planners on financial literacy, so that the message can be delivered in schools.
The CISI 2022 Financial Planning Week #FPWUK this year includes World Financial Planning Day on 5 October, organised by IOSCO (International Organisation of Securities Commission) as part of World Investor Week.
Sally Plant, CISI assistant director, Financial Planning and education development, said: “It has never been more important to get the message out – that financial literacy is an important tool for life, and Financial Planning is an essential part of wellbeing and mental fitness.
“Financial Planning Week helps raise awareness about the role of qualified Financial Planners in helping people from all walks of life, and all ages – and importantly, not just the wealthy – to think ahead and plan for the future.”
