You won’t find a simpler veggie side dish than these delicious sesame snow peas! From stove to table, they’re ready in only 5 minutes.
And while they’re great for a holiday side dish, they really shine as a weeknight recipe that the whole family will love.
I love to use these stir-fried snow peas as a side for Air Fryer Tofu, Instant Pot Orange Chicken, Air Fryer Frozen Shrimp, Dry Brined Chicken, and Air Fryer Orange Chicken.
Toss them into a bowl with Instant Pot Jasmine Rice and dinner is done.
They’re also delightful mixed into Cold Soba Noodles and Ramen Noodle Bowls with a side of Air Fryer Egg Rolls.
STIR-FRYING EQUIPMENT
For this recipe, I used my wok, but if you have a cast-iron skillet it will also give those green beans a gorgeous sear! I do not recommend using a non-stick skillet as it keeps the pea pods from developing that delicious sear.
I also use this silicone spatula to keep things moving around the pan, but a wooden spoon or scraper would work as well.
What Ingredients Are in This Snow Pea Stir Fry Recipe?
We’re keeping it simple on this one with just a few ingredients – snow peas, oil, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, and sesame seeds. I recommend avocado oil for this recipe because it is safe at high heat.
Most of these ingredients are also used in our Stir-Fried Green Beans recipe.
STIR-FRIED Snow Peas VARIATIONS
- If you prefer a softer snow pea texture, stir fry for 2 minutes, then add 1/3 cup of water to the pan, cover, and steam for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- If you need a gluten-free version of this recipe, try coconut aminos or tamari (check the ingredient label as some tamari brands do contain wheat).
- I love adding some spice to my portion in the form of chili crunch, sambal oelek, or gochujang.
- Adding fresh herbs like cilantro, chopped mint, or Thai basil is a delicious option.
- Add in your favorite chopped veggies or protein.
Pro Tips/Recipe Notes:
- Make sure the wok and oil are both very hot before adding the veg. That will give you the perfect sear.
- If you use snap peas, add 1 minute of cooking time to the process.
- Peas are ready when they’re a vibrant bright color.
