NCR Monitor Training
The NCR has invited many Debt Counsellors to attend online training about their monitoring process.
The National Credit Regulator (NCR) registers Debt Counsellors, credit providers, alternative dispute resolution agents and credit bureaus. They also conduct a type of “spot check” from time to time on these registrants. This is called a “monitoring visit”. The idea is to check if they are doing all the things they should do for their clients.
If there are any issues revealed during the monitoring, they can then instruct the registrant to fix the issue or even go so far as to take the registrant to the National Consumer Tribunal (NCT) if they find there are massive ongoing breaches of the National Credit Act (NCA) and regulations.
This month the NCR are running online webinar type training sessions with select Debt Counsellors to help them better understand the process (and be ready for when they receive a visit or electronic request for information). For many this will occur on Wednesday, 19 October 2022 from 10:30 – 11:00.
Those who would like to attend such training and have not been specifically invited can contact the NCR and ask to join.
