If homeownership, investing in real estate or refinancing an existing property is on your to-do list, Elevations Credit Union would love to help you take the next steps. Andrew Loyed of the Elevations Credit Union Mortgage Team is ready to answer questions, offer solutions and provide guidance along the way. Learn more about Loyed’s approach to residential mortgage loan origination.
“You may not need as much money as you think.”
Those words come from Andrew Loyed’s experience assisting Elevations members with their dreams of being homeowners and property investors. The key is buying a property that fits your needs — which might be, for instance, a one or two-bedroom condo rather than what you see everyone else in your circle buying.
“If you’re single, a four-bedroom house may be too much for your current needs,” Loyed said. “Once you get done with that, you can turn that over and get a bigger place or rent it and create passive income for yourself.”
It’s this type of strategic thinking that has propelled Loyed forward in his mortgage career and helped many skeptical Coloradans get keys to their own homes.
“I feel like creativity is the biggest part,” Loyed said. “Just because a person checks a certain box doesn’t mean that may be the best option for this individual. I think really getting their wants and needs out of the transaction is key.”
How he approaches loan origination
Loyed partners with residential mortgage applicants looking to buy or refinance property in Colorado. When it comes to first-time homebuyers — or those who haven’t purchased in a while — he really enjoys focusing on educating them about the current process and mortgage options. Loyed also works to dispel the myth that you have to have a lot of money in the bank to buy a home.
“This is much more of a possibility than you or your family has ever thought,” he said. Loyed says all it takes is partnering with someone like himself who will help you devise a plan and move through it one step at a time.
“There are some guys I went to high school with and their families had always rented in the same part of town,” Loyed said. “That showed me there are a lot of people that have no idea homeownership is even possible for them. I think it’s awesome and I’m always willing to explain how to help make it happen.”
On occasion, Loyed partners with local real estate agents and hosts table conversations for people interested in getting involved in homeownership or investment properties. What is his goal? He strives to have an open, honest conversation about what it takes to get a mortgage and answer any questions that pop up. Learn more about upcoming events and seminars here.
Finding a fit at Elevations
Prior to joining the Elevations Mortgage Team in October 2020, Loyed worked at a federal credit union in the mortgage department. In 2011 he started out as a processor, then moved into originating and management roles. During this time he was able to see the process for many loans and learn through repetition what works and what doesn’t.
During the past two years at Elevations, Loyed discovered how much he enjoys his autonomy to approach mortgages in his own way and the collaboration the company offers by having in-house processors, assistants, operations and management.
In addition to also loving the culture and community, he added, “I think we do a good job of keeping everybody interconnected. The support we have is really unmatched across the industry.”
Loyed said he enjoys how management creates new programs that align with current market conditions and are often outside-the-box in nature, so they can align with members’ needs while staying competitive in the Colorado mortgage market.
Beyond interest rates and loans
When Loyed isn’t educating members on the mortgage process, he’s spending time with his wife and two children, ages 10 and 3. As a family, they enjoy camping, hiking, snowboarding and enjoying all the beautiful outdoor adventures Colorado has to offer.
Loyed also enjoys golfing and fishing. And, he’ll never pass up an offer to meet with a member on the fairway to go over loan ideas while soaking up the sunshine.
