In today’s post, I’ve made a list of companies that pay $12 an hour or more. It’s safe to say that for many people, $12 an hour isn’t quite enough money. But, it does put you over minimum wage for most US states.
Many work at home jobs don’t pay much at all, so I’m hopeful that this list will give you some ideas of companies to look at if $12 is the bare minimum for what you can accept.
I’d recommend checking out this list of higher-paying work at home jobs if what’s listed in this post doesn’t give you enough ideas. And then FlexJobs is a great resource for finding quality, high-pay work at home job leads on a daily basis that are guaranteed to be legitimate if you want to do more digging outside what I have posted here.
You’ll see some companies that may be familiar from the other post, but I’ve also made an effort to include some companies that are not on the list so it won’t be an identical list.
And although I’ve done research here using Glassdoor and various work at home forums to find out for sure what these companies pay, I can’t guarantee the rates since this is something that changes periodically from company to company.
Aira – Read Aira Review – US only. This is a company that hires people to do voice chats with the blind and visually impaired. The purpose of this is to help them with everyday tasks. Pay is $15 hourly. Not always hiring.American Express – Customer Care Professionals. Anywhere in the US. 1 year of prior customer service experience is required, as well as strong communication skills and problem solving skills. Pay ranges $20 – $33 / hour + benefits.
American Queen Voyages – Reservation Sales Agent. FL or Anywhere in the US. You will be respond to and initiate direct customer contact to solicit sale of AQ Voyages cruises and related shore side products and services, using predominantly direct consumer phone contact and email. Must have high school diploma or equivalent and two years experience in a similar role. Hotel and/or Cruise Reservations experience desired. Pay is listed at $19 / hourly with benefits offered.
BKA Content – Read BKA Content Review – SEO Writers. Most US states. Must be at a college writing level, with a solid grasp of English grammar, spelling and punctuation and ability to meet strict deadlines. Average hourly rate varies, but they say you can expect to make around $14-21/hour depending on speed.
Conduent – Customer Experience Associates. Several US states. This is an entry level position, therefore all you’ll need is a high school diploma or equivalent, as well as strong problem solving skills. Pay is $16.50 / hour.
Continuum – Bilingual Customer Service Reps. Several US states. Must be fluent in Spanish & English. This appears to be entry level, however you will need a quiet workspace with stable internet and a USB headset. Pay is $15 / hour + benefits.
HGS – Customer Care Professionals. GA, TX, SC. 1 year of prior customer service/sales experience is required, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills. Pay for this position is $14 / hour.
Intermedia – US and sometimes other countries. This company has regular openings for remote tech support. They pay around $18 to their work at home tech support agents.
Marco Learning – Read Marco Learning Review – Graders. Anywhere in the US. You will read, score, and provide personalized feedback on middle- and high-school student writing. You must be a strong writer and passionate about helping students learn. Most graders earn $12 to $14 hourly. Position will be open again this fall!
Panda Tree – Read PandaTree Review – US and occasionally Canada. Work at home tutoring students in Spanish or Mandarin. Earn $18 to $24 hourly.
Nextwave Advocacy – Read Nextwave Advocacy Review – US only. Political outreach calling, project-based work. Pays $12 an hour.
OnPoint Advocacy – Read OnPoint Advocacy Review – US only. This is also political outreach calling. While they do not make their rate of pay public, I have seen some old job postings advertising it to be around $12 an hour.
Paragon Planners – Read Paragon Planners Review – They look for people in the following US states – AZ, CA, CO, FL, ID, KY, MI, MO, NC, OH, OR, SC, TN, TX & WI. This is phone work from home where you schedule appointments for financial wholesalers. Earn between $14 and $16 hourly depending on experience.
PrepNow – Read PrepNow Review – US only. This is a company that hires people to work at home tutoring students on the SAT, ACT, and Math. Must have experience tutoring plus a 4-year college degree. Pays between $15 and $19 hourly.
Smith.ai – Virtual Receptionists (Read Review). US and Mexico. Seems to be entry-level but must have basic skills like the ability to follow directions and be able to multi-task. They hire for both full-time (40 hours/week) and part-time positions. They offer flexible hours with a requirement to work one shift on Monday and a minimum of 25 hours per week. Pay starts at $15 hourly for US and $11 for Mexico.
StitchFix – Read StitchFix Stylist Review – US only EXCEPT FOR the following states – CA, CO, CT, IL, MA, ME, MT, NJ, NY, NV, OR, PA, RI, VT, WA, AK, OR HI. They tend to hire in various regions, and this changes periodically. You can work at home as a remote fashion stylist for StitchFix in certain areas. Starting pay is $16.50 hourly.
Telerecruitment – Blood Donor Recruiters. Anywhere in the US. Must have at least one year of outbound telemarketing or phone experience. You’ll also need 2 years of customer service or sales experience. A quiet workplace with a wired internet connection is required. Pay ranges $13 – $16 / hour.
The ACT – Read The ACT Review – US only. Work at home scoring ACT essays. While the pay is performance-based, you can earn $12 an hour or more.
Boldly – Read Boldly Review – Open to UK and specific US states, including Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming. This company hires work at home virtual assistants. Pay starts at $24 hourly.
U-Haul – Read U-Haul Review – Sales Reps. Many locations in the US. Must have a quiet, private work area and proficient keyboarding and  computer skills. Must be available to work between 7am – 6pm (all in Arizona time). Hourly base pay $13.00 per hour plus discretionary sales bonus.
VXI Global Solutions – Outbound Sales Reps. Several US states. Minimum 6 months of call center experience, sales experience and strong communication skills are both required. Pay is $18 / hour + benefits.
Zirtual – Read Zirtual Review – US only. This is work at home virtual assisting. The job postings indicate the assistants who work for this company are paid 47% of their client’s monthly plans with monthly pay averaging $3000-$3500 per month depending on the client mix. After 6 months of tenure, VA’s revenue split can increase to 50%.
