For Anthony Roddy and his colleagues, winning the New Brokerage of the Year Award at last year’s Australian Mortgage Awards couldn’t have come at a better time.
“Several of our clients have mentioned the award, so I’m sure it confirms for some of our clients that they’re dealing with the right team,” Roddy (pictured above) said.
Sydney brokerage MortgageWorks, which Roddy launched with Nick Jacobs and George Fennel in 2020, won the coveted new brokerage trophy after an impressive couple of years. The three directors also featured in MPA’s Top 100 Brokers 2022.
Roddy said winning an Australian Mortgage Award was a great way to get recognition for your achievements.
“The process of applying for the award forced us to review all of the little things we’d done along the way which resulted in some really enormous outcomes – it was a really satisfying process,” he said.
Roddy also said the award was a great way to reward staff, and a way to “say thank you for all of the effort they put in”.
“We took the opportunity to take the team to a really nice venue for pre-drinks, and we made a real night out of it – it’s a fantastic thing for culture, highly recommended.”
The Australian Mortgage Awards is the most celebrated night on the mortgage and finance industry calendar where the crème del la crème gather to celebrate their achievements.
Nominations for the highly anticipated 2023 awards are open until June 30 and tickets to attend the gala dinner are selling fast.
After returning as a highly successful live event last year and attracting a crowd of more than 700 people, this year’s ceremony promises to be even more dazzling.
Hosted by popular comedian and radio and TV presenter Merrick Watts, the black-tie event will be held on Friday, October 13 at The Star Event Centre in Sydney – a fitting backdrop for a night of glitz and glamour.
A highlight of the mortgage broking industry
Now in its 22nd year, the Australian Mortgage Awards has become a highlight of the calendar for the broking community. The AMAs are run by Key Media and supported by Australian Broker and Mortgage Professional Australia.
This year’s awards will honour brokers, aggregators, business development managers and lenders across 27 categories.
The broker of the year awards will be spread out across five categories, including commercial, residential, regional and specialist lending, as well as a young gun of the year award.
The lender awards include the fintech lender of the year, as well as bank and non-bank of the year.
Westpac is proudly lending its support as event partner – the major bank’s 14th year of backing the awards – while NAB and PRPTY360 are premium partners.
In addition, 22 other organisations have shown their support by sponsoring the 2023 AMAs, including ANZ, Liberty, La Trobe Financial, Pepper Money, MFAA, FBAA, Bankwest, Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA), Mortgage Choice, OnDeck Australia, PropTrack, Adelaide Bank, Equity-One, Firstmac, ubank, Gateway Bank, Rate Money, Resimac and Q2.
The social media sponsor is Maxiron Capital and FINSTREET is the VIP post awards event sponsor while Fifo Capital is sponsoring the photo booth. PRPTY360 is also the champagne sponsor.
Nominations for the 2023 Australian Mortgage Awards close on June 30.
