As communities across the greater Cape Town are trying to cope with the ongoing downpours, many are sending relief supplies to assist in areas that have been hard hit.
The W. Cape town of Citrusdal has effectively been cut off from the outside world as roads have collapsed and other low lying areas near Strand, Philippi and old Crossroads have been left under several feet of water. Rivers have burst their banks and officials are urging people not to travel through flooded areas if they can stay home.
There were also some scary mudslides in the Hout Bay area and elsewhere.
Debt Counsellors, like the team at Community Debt Support (CDS), are gathering donations and supplies and delivering them to effected areas in and around Cape Town.
Recently, the team dropped off 6 boxes to the Strand area and 7 boxes for the Paarl area where farm areas have been hard hit. More boxes are on their way in the near future.
