The Hawks have swooped down on illegal credit providers in Limpopo and helped over 400 venerable consumers get their ID books and bank cards back.
Loan sharks and other illegal credit providers, who do not register with the NCR, often charge exorbitant and illegally high interest rates on loans to desperate people.
They also often take consumers’ ID books and bank cards or SASSA cards as a form of surety which is also illegal.
In a recent raid, the Hawks recovered so many Sassa cards, bank cards and ID books. Well over 400 in total.
The crooks will now face arrest and they will then appear in court and face a big fine. All the consumers will have their debts set aside (they won’t have to repay them) and get their property back.
