The first thing I learned as a new blogger was that they work incredibly hard. Wow! Some bloggers, like me, will pour 80 hours of their week into their blog. But, it doesn’t feel like work. It’s fun. It’s something I LOVE doing. I love helping others. It’s my passion. I have had A-list jobs in my lifetime when I worked outside the home, but nothing will ever compare to the personal satisfaction I get from one of my fans thanking me for posting on something. That they don’t feel so alone anymore in what they’re dealing with. That kind of encouragement is priceless.
But, the truth is, that I’m no different than you.
I’m no better or worse. I’m just me, and you are just you. While different, maybe you are not a blogger so your name isn’t more visible, we are exactly the same.
I’m a mom just like you. I’m a woman just like you. I’m a Christian. I’m a friend, a teacher, a daughter, I’ve failed in my life just like you have. Hopefully you haven’t failed as much as I have. lol.
I opened my email box today and guess what I found…an email saying that celebrities are no longer fashion’s major influencers.
Wait, what????
Celebrities have owned the world since, like, forever.
Not anymore. More people look to social media and fashion BLOGGERS as their fashion influencers. To them, bloggers seem more real, more relateable, something celebrities can’t do.
This is huge news, and I’m excited to see it. Bloggers around the globe are CHANGING THE WORLD.
A individual blogger starts off just having an idea. Do you have any ideas? They are passionate about something. Are you passionate about a cause? My ’cause’ is seeing more women be able to stay home with their little ones. In our day and age, it’s a total MYTH that a woman HAS TO work. I’m sorry, I know some will hate that, but it’s true! I totally get there are cases where a woman might have to work, but, if a woman is creative and works at being able to stay home with her kids, under any income, and I mean ANY INCOME, she CAN stay home. I wouldn’t stand here today if it were not possible. A SINGLE SAHM who lives on $18k/year! And we don’t just survive, we thrive. I want for nothing. I’m not hurting. I’m not living in some ghetto in a bad part of town like I did my whole childhood. We live in a nicer home than many in one of the nicest parts of my town. My subdivision is the most sought after subdivision in my whole county.
At first it was hard, I won’t deny that, but I was determined. If you are determined, I completely, whole-heartedly believe, “Where there’s a will, there’s a way!”
If YOU think you cannot change the world, you won’t. But if you have a passion for something, and you go for it and it’s not against God’s plan for you, you WILL accomplish it in ways you can’t imagine.
My favorite Christian music singer is Matthew West and in one of his songs he is asking God what he can possibly do to help this sick and dying world. His conclusion was that God created him to do something.
He’s right! God created us to change the world. We are the salt and the light of the world. His message is get out there an DO SOMETHING. We all play a part in that. So, what are you waiting for? What dream do you have that you’re doing going for? Why or why not?
In the words of Matthew West, “It’s time for us to do something.” Take heed of this quote. I’m not willing to sit on the sidelines and not do anything about making my OWN dreams come true, about not helping OTHERS, about not making a DIFFERENCE. What about you???
You don’t need a blog to make a big difference. It is as simple as listening to someone in pain, being there for a friend in time of need, giving to homeless shelters, donating toys for Christmas programs in your area, giving coats to a coat drive. Whatever YOU can do where YOU are is all that God expects. Ask Him to lead situations to you that you can help. I do that all the time. I’m always praying that God would lead women who really need to be encouraged to my blog. Maybe they are in an abusive relationship or on the verge of divorce. I pray I am able to minister to their hearts. And believe me, those are the emails that I put higher priority than anything else, not money, not anything else, but helping people is #1! For me, THAT IS my dream!!!!!
What do you do to change the world? What can you actually do? How can you get started doing even small things that make such a HUGE difference in others’ lives? What’s holding you back? What is stopping you from making your dreams your reality?
