While there are definitely some perks you can enjoy as an independent contractor, many people simply do not like the idea of it and would prefer to work as an employee where taxes would be taken out of pay automatically.
Working as an employee for a company also usually means you get paid training and other benefits like insurance and paid time off.
If you’re not too keen on the idea of being an independent contractor, you might want to browse through this list I made of companies that hire you as an employee. You’ll notice that most of these are phone-based jobs.
Keep in mind this is just a general list and not all will be actively hiring right now! You can always visit the website of a company you are interested in working for to check for current openings.
Equivity – Virtual Paralegals. US and some specific states for different positions. Bachelor’s degree from four-year college program. Pay varies depending on the position you apply for, but most are $20 or more hourly.
Bullhorn – Bullhorn is a reputable company with many different remote jobs across different industries. They also offer positions in countries outside the US. If you are hired to work for them, they provide the equipment you need to do the work. And they also provide benefits which includes paid time off, health benefits, and more.
Boldly – Executive Assistant. US. Full or part time. Requires a minimum of 7 years of direct hands-on experience as an executive assistant or senior administrative assistant to one or more executives (general admin experience as part of another role will not qualify). Pay is between $24 and $28 hourly.
Baker Tilly – Customer Support Tax Expert. US. Seasonal. You will provide tax support and advice over video, phone, and chat, helping customers work on returns through designated software. You are not preparing/filing returns directly. Must have 3 years of past tax prep experience. Position runs from Jan 2025 to April 2025. Rate of pay will vary depending on your location and other factors, but residents of California, Colorado, New York, and Washington will receive at minimum $22 hourly.
ProScribe – Virtual Medical Scribes. ProScribe has several virtual medical scribe positions open. To be eligible to apply for these positions, you must reside in one of the following approved states: AL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KY, LA, MS, NC, ND, NH, OK, SC, TN, TX, UT, WI, WY. You will be preparing and assembling medical record documentation/charts to support healthcare providers.
eMoney Advisor – Client Support Specialist. US. Full-time. The Client Support Specialist is responsible for answering incoming customer inquiries, solving customer issues, and escalating cases to tier two teams or management when necessary. Requires 2+ years of experience in a call center/customer service/support role or relevant experience, including commensurate internal experience. Pay is between $47K and $60K yearly.
Holman – Sales Coordinator. US. Full-time. You will handle inbound and outbound phone calls with customers to schedule sales appointments. Call Center experience is preferred, but not required. Pay is %16.54 – $22.34 USD per hour.
New American Funding – Client Support Specialist. US (must be able to work Pacific time zone hours). Full-time. Must be bilingual (Spanish). The primary function of this role is to support the different omni channel communication platforms that necessitate a response to both internal (Consumer Direct/Retail) and external clients. Pay is $17 hourly.
SWBC – Customer Service Associate. US. Full-time. SWBC is seeking a talented individual to provide customer service support for loan portfolios to financial institutions, insurance agents and borrowers/members by assessing and updating collateral protection insurance coverage and identifying uninsured loans. Looking for someone with a minimum of zero to six (0-6) months of data entry, in-bound, out-bound or other related call center, telemarketing or related experience. Insurance or banking experience preferred. Benefits are offered.
McGraw Hill – Inside Customer Success Rep. US.Reporting to the Manager, Customer Success Team, the CSR is responsible for promoting customer success by providing guidance, training, and support. Looking for someone with a bachelor’s degree and 1-2 years experience in customer success or similar role related to software implementation (higher education experience preferred but not required). Pay is $50K to $59K yearly.
Smartling – Tech Support Specialist. US. You will provide best-in-class technical support via email, but you must also be comfortable taking phone calls as needed. Requires third-level technical education via degree or certification and demonstrated experience working in a B2B customer support role and delivering against key support KPIs. Pay should range between $50K to $62K yearly.
BRUNT Workwear – Customer Experience Representative. US. You will engage with BRUNT customers using phone, chat, and email. Requires experience in customer service role, examples: retail environment, in-person / face-to-face service, call-center or remote communication. Benefits offered.
Chevron Federal Credit Union – Member Support Representative. US. Full-time. Answer calls in the general workgroup and provide information to members and potential members on Credit Union membership, products and services and other pertinent Credit Union information. Requires 1 to 2 years’ Call Center, Teller or Retail experience required. Pay will vary depending on several factors, but should range between $31K and $53K yearly.
Amazon – Blink Technical Customer Service Associate (Bilingual). TX, GA, FL, SC, and NC. Hours are Mon-Fri 7am-3:30pm EST. You’ll be providing prompt, efficient, detailed service by engaging directly with Blink’s customers via phone and email. Requires excellent verbal and written communications skills required in both English and Spanish, German, French, or Italian.
Cherry Bekaert – Tax Senior. This is for their Augusta, GA, location, but listing says they are open to remote. You will review federal and multi-state tax returns; experience with flow-through and/or C-corp entities highly desirable. Must have Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; Master’s in Accounting is preferred. The salary range for this position is $67,355 to $112,600.
Startek – Customer Service Associates. US. You will be working diligently with customers, providing them with solutions, answering general customer service questions that may include service issues, billing inquires, and product enhancement opportunities that will continue to drive customer satisfaction for clients. Pay is $14 to $16 hourly.
Williams-Sonoma – Seasonal Customer Service Reps. US (many locations). This requires a high school diploma or GED and a couple of years of past customer service experience. Pay is $15 hourly.
BaubleBar – Seasonal Customer Care Associate. US. Quickly and efficiently handle a high volume of customer inquiries via email, social, and live chat while navigating multiple computer systems. Provide 30-40 hours per week of customer support after initial training period (training will be approximately 10 hours per week to start). The role is temporary and will last 12 to 18 weeks.
Freedom Mortgage – Customer Support Specialist. US. Full-time. Ability to effectively and professionally communicate via phone and email. Requires six months or greater mortgage/call center related experience, or a 4-year college degree in lieu of experience.
Access Nurse – AccessNurse has regular openings for RN’s to do telephone triage from home in different US states. This is a 24/7 medical call center, so it would be possible to set up hours when it’s most convenient for you. They are usually searching for nurses with at least 2 years of past experience. This is full-time work. Rate of pay is not listed.
Whop – Customer Support Specialist. US. Full-time. Be the first point of contact for users and creators, managing inquiries via Intercom. Entry-level. Salary is $48,000 yearly.
Life Fitness – Call Center/Customer Service Associate. US. Full-time. Maintain contact with National Commercial and Consumer accounts via phone, email and fax contact and business correspondence. Minimum 2 years related experience in a customer service and/or call center environment dealing with external customers preferred.
Dynata – Virtual Call Center Agents. Several US states. Must work at least 20 hours per week. Call center survey agents to perform outbound surveys from home with respondents and accurately record their answers. These surveys range in topics from politics to customer satisfaction and beyond. Pay is $13 hourly.
Quince – Customer Service Rep (Retention). US. Full-time. The Retention Specialist is responsible for answering customer questions pertaining to product information, order statuses, tracking information, returns & exchanges, and more. Looking for people with an Associate’s degree or greater and 2+ years of professional experience working with a computer and web-based tools. Pays $21 an hour, biweekly. Benefits are offered.
Eberjey – Customer Service Coordinator. US. Full-time. Seasonal position running from October 15, 2024 – January 15, 2025. You will respond to customers inquiries via phone, email, and chat in a timely and professional manner. Pay is $22 to $30 hourly.
