I’m delighted to announce that Xero has partnered with Parolla, to offer Xero accounting and bookkeeping partners and small business customers a free VAT solution, enabling you to easily prepare and generate revenue-compliant VAT3 returns for direct upload to Revenue Online Services (ROS).
Introducing the EMEA Xero team
I’m Ayman, Head of EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) and I want to personally introduce myself and my team to let you know we are committed to you and all our customers and partners in Ireland.
We are a newly formed team prioritising the Irish market. We wake up everyday thinking about how we can service you better.
I want to start off by saying thank you. We wouldn’t be where we are today without the support of our early adopters and Xero champions in Ireland. Your passion and dedication to making a positive impact on the industry has helped us immensely. We value your loyalty, and know the last couple of years have been challenging with the economic environment and the lack of bank feeds. But we’re working hard to enhance your experience.
Our new partnership
We’ve been listening carefully to the feedback from Irish accountants and bookkeepers and far and away, the biggest ask is for a VAT3 solution to remove the work-around solutions and manual entry to save you time. This is why we’re so excited to announce our partnership with Parolla.
If you’re an accountant or bookkeeper in Ireland, you may have heard of, or even used Parolla before. Based in Ireland and founded by Mark Ogilvie and Claire Brennan, Parolla is a cloud-based payroll product in the market which integrates with Xero. Parolla has now created exclusive Xero Plugins to enable preparation of VAT3 reports, as well as generating Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) compliant payment files to pay suppliers by batch payment and reconcile multiple payments in one go, matching them to a single statement line.
Our partnership with Parolla will provide you access to this fantastic product, which is in constant development and boasts a close relationship with ROS. It also enables us to deliver you a solution as quickly as possible.
Mark Ogilvie, founder of Parolla, says, “We’re delighted to be partnering with Xero to extend its feature set for the Republic of Ireland. We’re huge advocates of cloud Software as a Service (SaaS) business products, as we want to help Irish business owners get back to focusing on their business by introducing automation, to spend less time on the books.”
How Parolla Plugins can help you
Parolla Plugins is now available in Xero for Irish accountants, bookkeepers and small businesses subscribed to any Xero Business Edition plan and Xero Cashbook. This partnership is designed to help you prepare, manage and track your VAT3 returns more efficiently and accurately.
By automating Irish returns, advisors will be able to eliminate some of the hassle during tax time and help small business clients with their tax obligations from day one. It will also free up more of your time for client collaboration and remove the guesswork so you can provide an in-depth picture of what VAT is owed or what’s coming your way.
Key features of Parolla Plugins VAT3 returns include:
- VAT calculated for you: VAT is worked out automatically and included in returns. It’s built for businesses that work in Ireland as well as in the EU and further afield.
- Customised VAT rates: Commonly used VAT rates are already set up in Parolla and you can create and share your own customised tax rate templates to be used in your organisation.
- Manage VAT transactions: See details of the VAT report with itemised transactions, review annotated audit schedule before upload to Revenue.

Committed to Ireland
A big thank you to everyone that’s joined us on our journey so far in becoming part of the Xero community across Ireland. We look forward to offering you additional features and services to further support you in the region, and from today you’ll start seeing our new ‘Committed to Ireland’ stamp – a reminder of our commitment to you.
Our partnership with Parolla is our first step in our commitment to you and we are really excited about the future.
While we hope our partnership with Parolla is welcome news to all, we sympathise with your frustration over the Bank of Ireland bank feed not yet being restored. Thankfully we are now in our second stage of customer testing. We have one more phase of testing to complete before we can make it available to you. In the meantime, learn more about Parolla Plugins and Xero.
