These days it’s essential to reflect on all your spending asking yourself questions like is travel insurance worth it and which is the cheapest supermarket? We need to spend with consideration and cut costs where we can.
The price of pretty much everything has risen in the past few years to the point where we are all having to really mull over every purchase. I don’t know about you but where I can I have been cutting out unnecessary expenses. I no longer pay for the gym, instead I work out at home and go for long walks. I no longer pay for magazine subscriptions either I just look online for the latest news and celebrity gossip. . And I have cut my coffees as I walk – instead I make my own and pop it in my keepy cup before I go.
I have applied this same cost cutting mindset to travel in some areas but not in others. Let me explain:
Cutting the length of the holiday
Instead of 2 weeks holiday abroad which is our usual duration we have cut our plans for this summer down to 1 week, with another week booked to go and stay with friends and a few days camping. This will add variety to our summer plans and significantly cut cost.
Not shopping!
I have a terrible tendency to go clothes shopping each and every time I go on holiday and yet rationally I absolutely know there is absolutely no need to think a new holiday means new clothes. The two do not have to go hand in hand and new clothes don’t improve my holiday one bit! Plus, apart form on holiday my beach wear doesn’t get much of an outing so it’s not like its worn out with use from one year to the next!
Travel Insurance
Is travel insurance worth it?
Yes. Undoubtedly. Oh my goodness of course it is!
Do not in any way cut back on getting travel insurance.
From your flight being cancelled to your luggage getting lost you may well end up needing insurance. And what about if you get sick ,or if someone back home gets sick and you need to get home quickly? Life happens and sadly sometimes the best holidays really can go very wrong Paying for all of these things out of your own pocket would wipe you out financially and an inexpensive travel insurance policy you can ensure that’s not going to happen. It’s a complete no brainer. Never skimp on this!
It is worth every penny for peace of mind alone.
Souvenirs
No one needs them, no one is that bothered about them and rarely do people keep them. Save your money and stop with the souvenirs.
Sunscreen
Make sure you take it, make sure it is a quality brand and a high enough factor and make sure it is less than a year old. It is so important to protect your skin and yours and your family’s skin from the sunshine.
So some things change some stay the same – you just have to weigh up what you can do without and what you absolutely can’t. What are your travel plans for the summer?
